How Do I Apply a Protective Film to My Themis Mini Scale?

The Themis Mini scale is shipped with a protective film already applied at the factory.
Under normal use, no additional film application is required.

The bare glass surface is durable and scratch-resistant for daily brewing use.
You only need to reapply the film in special cases, such as when the original film is damaged or removed during use.

If you decide to apply or replace the protective film, please follow the guide below carefully.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Clean the scale surface

Proper cleaning is critical to avoid bubbles.

  • Use a screen-cleaning wipe or a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with high-concentration alcohol to remove grease, fingerprints, or residue.

  • Follow with a dry wipe to ensure the surface is completely clean.

  • Inspect the surface under light to make sure no dust or particles remain.

Tip: Floating dust is the most common cause of bubbles.

2. Prepare the protective film

  • Take out the protective film.

  • Peel off the protective layer marked with Sticker 1.

3. Align and apply the film

  • Carefully align the film with the four corners of the scale.

  • Start from one edge or corner.

  • While applying, use a firm card or flat plastic tool to press and push forward as you go.

  • Apply slowly, pushing air out at the same time.

4. Remove the top protective layer

  • Once the film is fully attached, peel off the layer with Sticker 2.

  • Use the card again to gently push out any remaining small bubbles toward the edges.

Tips for Best Results

  • Apply the film in a clean, dust-free environment.

  • Using high-concentration alcohol for cleaning significantly improves results.

  • Small bubbles can usually be removed by slowly pushing them outward with a firm card.

  • Take your time — rushing increases the chance of trapped air.
